At work, when we have our annual picnic, people have freaked out that I have tattoos. LOL. And they're not even full sleeves, like yours. They "never thought I'd be the type". But then again, who is the type?
(btw, my next one is going to be my first large piece, I hope I can make it through to the end)
Dr. Numb will get you through your first large piece, it got me through 20 hours on the table for my back.
Also, someone had talked about "bad" stereotype..that's just silly. I'm a VP for a major financial institution and over half of my body is inked. It's just expression, nothing more, nothing less.
I absolutely love tattoos personally. I think that they are very attractive on men or women. There are some kinds I am not fond of - anything on necks, fingers or faces I find to be unnatractive and silly, but that doesn't mean I judge the person for it.
Personally I have three - a medium size religious piece on my right bicep. A half-sleave of a wolf with a full moon backdrop on my left shoulder/bicep/upper arm (a cathartic piece that helped me heal following my divorce after 17 years of marriage). And lastly my left calf has a large koi with a water splash background (also a cathartic piece that symbolized me overcoming a tough couple of years including a suicidal child, job difficulties and the aftermath of my divorce).
I will probably get more. I won't judge you for your lack of tattoos, you don't judge me for mine (and for the record I'm not some silly young kid, I'm approaching 40, hold graduate degrees and work in a professional field).
I didn't say you had that tattoo, but if somebody had that tattoo, he/she deserves to be judged because it is a trashy tattoo. simple concept.
So...people with trashy and offensive tattoos are trashy and offensive, not tattoos in general.
