Ill fitting shoes will cost you in the long run. If you buy shoes that are just ... Oh, say a 1/2 size too small or a smallish size of your norm ... you may develop bunions and other foot problems. Your $3 deals will wind up costing you thousands with the option of wearing shoes you wouldn't want to be caught dead in.

OP, one word. YES! Stop buying shoes from second hand store. They have already molded to someone else's feet.
I hate feet so wearing other people's shoes really grosses me out. I know, I'm weird.

I know an older woman thanks to wearing badly fitted shoes most of her life, now has hammertoes on each foot.

Her big toes have bent so radically that ALL her toes have twisted sideways and have lost flexibility, and now she has a hard time balancing because -- that's what toes are for.

It's SO not worth buying ill fitted shoes. They can cause a world of foot problems.

You must have very strong feet. I never wear low-quality shoes. Aerosoles are the cheapest ones that I own and the most comfortable. I've tried every designer and non-designer heel from Cole Haan to Jimmy Choo and they are all the same for me. Definitely a good pair of shoes are generally more comfortable than cheap ones, but that just means one is good for 10 minutes and the other 2 hours. I'm talking about 3 inches plus, though. In a lower heel I can go for longer, but still not what you describe. Maybe I'm just old. These days I wear "comfort" heels and don't even care that they look comfortable. When I was younger I wore high heels a lot, but I do remember that I just kind of got used to the pain. In fact, I didn't realize until I stopped wearing heels when I was pregnant, that I'd pretty much had sore feet for about 10 years and not really noticed it.

I have a pair of Cole Hann black patent leather heels, that literally go with everything. They look great, I just recently had new heels put in them for $10, and they still look good as new. And I wear them 8-10 hours a day, no hurt....they are like tennis shoes to me.

Get one good pair of shoes...better than 25 pairs of ill fitting ones.

It's just an expression. My mom used to say the same thing, "those shoes are too big, look how they slop around." I knew exactly what the meant by "slop"

Heels are not good for your feet at any rate. Or your back...

So if you women have a good fitting high heels that won't make you sore - you still don't even go shopping in it? Or does it actually make your feet hurt despite a perfect fit?

As I said, I can wear my Cole Haan heels for 12-14 hours, running around a hospital, all day. Come home, and still go to the gym. Those Cole Haan shoes are gold. They have Nike Air technology in them. I like a chunkier heel for running around work all day.
