LOL... I think I'll need to address that before sandal season (though mine are not that bad). What treatment would you suggest?

I've had a pet-peeve about that ever since I was a little kid many decades ago. Pumice stones have been in stores long before the prevalence of pedicure spas.

I've never had this with my feet. They are just a little dry now, so moisturizer works fine. What causes those extreme cracked heels? Since the above pic shows it predominately on one foot, is it the shoes worn? Is it athlete's feet? I don't understand how/why people get this.

Showing it on one foot is likely a before/after comparison.

It's primarily just extreme dryness. But the skin on your heels is different (thicker, tougher) than the skin on other parts of your body, so the dryness appears more dramatic. I actually get it worse during the summer when I spend a lot of time in sandals. For some reason, all that exposure causes my heels to dry and crack more.

Heels/feet/dry skin - it is daily upkeep for me otherwise my heels would look like the above "before" picture. It is almost time for the pedicures to begin....can't wait for warmth and sandals and to put allll those winter clothes and boots away!

LOL

I keep my feet up (home pedicures) during the fall/winter months too....so I don't have that issue.

Same here.

I use an awesome little tool I got from Amazon, at least once a week:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use a pumice stone every day in the bath.

I use almond oil on my feet afterwards.

Several times a year I do a hot wax treatment.

I get a professional pedicure about once every three months.

That keeps my heels and feet in perfect shape - for which my husband is quite grateful!

It's really common. Foot skin is thicker, and the dead skin doesn't slough, it builds up. I use a pumice stone daily -- just takes a few swipes. I also use Curel's Foot Therapy. It's got lots of good moisture -- AND retinol. That helps your feet skin slough off naturally.

I have diabetes, and so I am careful with my feet. No hard scraping or poking or digging. Wearing regular shoes or slippers at all times keeps my feet soft and smooth. When it's sandal weather, they need a little more love -- keeping them out makes them more vulnerable to the weather.
