Has anyone worn London Fog raincoats for women and been caught in a heavy rain? How water resistant are they when rain is really pouring down? I noticed that the women's coats are all water resistant, none are waterproof as the men's are.

As we live in Portland (aka, rain city), my wife has discovered that waterproof is the only way to go in a medium or heavy rain.

Or, you may get a water resistant and spray it if you like the style. As to London Fog, it is a good, medium quality coat.

Thank you. A neighbor mentioned that spray. I may try that as stores are running out of raincoats now. Actually, only Macy's had any. And all the women's are water repellent. So, settled for exactly what I want and shall look for the spray.

Don't know why there seems to be no waterproof. Plenty in men's coats but none in women's.

Thank you. I've ordered the coat I want. Just that it is only water repellant but there were no proofed ones. I do have an L L Bean winter coat. Ages old and still in good condition but too warm for nowadays when the rains start pouring down.

I bought my wife 2 waterproof coats. A dress one and a casual one. One from REI and the other JC Penny's.

I checked J C Penny first. They had none. I'm a bit late in the season. Only Macy's had any and their supply was running low

What brand were the waterproof coats you bought? Macy's had several good brands but all were just water repellent.

Thanks

If you want a truly weatherproof coat, the best brand is probably Barbour, a British brand of waxed cotton raincoats and overcoats. They are stylish in the classic British way, and rather expensive. They are popular with sailers, hunters, and others who spend a long time in the elements. But even they need to be professionally rewaxed to stay waterproof. London Fog is water repellant, not weatherproof.
