I was just wondering which ladies here on cd don't buy swimwear anymore ? our summer season is so short I don't see how it could pay to buy one for maybe 2 months if that ? Do any of you feel the same way . BTW I am in shape but I proably have not bought a swim suit in 15 yrs and Im in my early 50s if that makes any difference .

I grew up in a no-need area and our current location does not require wet fabric either.

Ive had the same swimsuits for the past 3 years. Dont wear them all that often so why bother buying new ones?

Well, you DO keep them for years (not just two months), right?

I have two and have no need to buy more.

I tend to buy 1-2 suits a year.

I live in a climate where I can swim or use the hot tub most of the year, my condo has both, and I like to take advantage of this. The hot tub is pretty rough on swimwear.

I'm also vain - I tend to have one cute swimsuit for stuff like pool parties, vacations with my SO, etc. And one more functional suit for when I want to do some serious lap swimming or water aerobics.

I have plenty of opportunities to wear one if I want, since we live near the beach. I used to buy a bathing suit every year in hopes that the new one would look better than the old ones. But since they didn't, I make do with what I have.

I'm 78 - rather let young women revel in the belief they're going to be that way forever.
Besides, I got swimming out of my system when I was a young girl/woman and now I'm content to just walk the beach/sea wall wearing shorts (not Daisy Dukes!) and tank tops.

I haven't bought a bathing suit in about 12 years. I have looked at them, however, and can't believe that they are now sold as "separates".

Separates are pretty much for the bikinis. Youve got people with narrow hips or wide hips plus either a small or large chest that didnt always match the set you were buying off the rack. Plus a lot of people like to mix colors. Instead of a pink top and bottom they want a black bottom and pink top or purple bottom and white top. Creativity. Variety. Call it what you will.

I bought a new suit about 3 years ago, we don't have a pool or hot tub but when we travel we try to get a hotel with a pool and I don't see getting a new swimsuit anytime soon since mine is used very little.
