Voted "less than 10".
Never owned that many (all at once) in my life.

I think I have many of them but apparently some people have more

1 pair of converse chuck taylors. I always have a pair somewhere.
3 pairs of canva sneakers that cost almost nothing and that I only wear in summer
1 pair of "approach" sneakers with a rugged sole which are most worn shoes
1 pair of nice black leather mid-top boots for fall / winter / spring. My other most worn pair. I had them made by a shoemaker.
1 pair of caterpillar boots for bad weather / snow / nature walks...
1 pair or gore-tex boots for serious hiking
1 pair of hi-top skate-style sneakers that I mostly wear in winter when I don't feel like wearing boots
1 pair of dressy brown derby styled shoes.
1 pair of chaco sandals
1 pair of running shoes
1 pair of plastic shoes for the swimming pool

Those are still at my parents' house:

1 pair of dressy black derby styled shoes.
1 very used pair of brown dr martens high top from the mid 90s

When I was younger I used to only have two pair of shoes: My dr. Martens for winter and a pair of sneakers for the rest of the time. When the sneakers wore out (or sometimes, after they wore out) I would buy another pair. I didn't even have anything else, really. Having a long-term relationship with a girl brings some changes in your life, I guess.

Tennis shoes = 2
Slip-on sandals = 1
Strappy sandals = 1
Leather mules = 1
Dress shoes = 2 (black & brown)
Dress boots = 2 (black & red)
Slippers = 2
Shower shoes = 1
...and oodles of other shoes in storage that fit fine at the store, but then tortured my feet when I wore them.

"Fewer" than 10, not "less".

Let's see....

Brown Justin basic cowboy boots... 1.
Black Dan Post Albuquerques... 1.
Black high-top Chucks... 1 (again).
Black Wolverine ICW combat boots... 1.

So that's four thus far.

The Nike turfs I've had since high school... 1. (My usual "go-to" sneakers when I'm not wearing cowboy boots).
The old Vans Dunbars I've also had since high school... 1
Nike Air Force One high-tops.... 1.
Asics Split Second 8s... 1.

So that's 8. Is that too many for a man to have?

You should have seen it 10 years ago when I was still into motocross. Seems I'd have a new pair of Sk8-His or Chucks every other month, since I'd really tear them up and it was (still is) damn near impossible to find MX boots in my size. I would have done the sensible thing and gone with combat boots like I do now, and been done with it, but my ultra right-wing mother wouldn't allow it because she felt it "disrespectful" toward the military. (Oh, and the dude who just lapped me wearing his brother's old hand-me-down BDUs isn't? Whatever.)

Guess I really should have considered taking out stock in Vans at the time.

Not counting my thong-sandals, I have around 50.
It's beginning to be a problem....

Less than twenty, but I have everything covered.

I have 2 pairs of snow boots, 1 pair of hiking boots, 3 other pairs of cold weather footwear, 2 flats, 1 pair of sneakers, 2 heels (not enough) 6 pairs of sandals, a pair of flip flops and a pair of shaggy red slippers which always remind me of Elmo.

I recently got rid of a pair of sneakers, pair of flips, 2 pairs of sandals and a pair of heels.
