4 years ago I bought a knock off pair for $25 that lasted very well through last spring. I still have them and will still wear them on occasion. I just bought a second pair of knock offs for $19 on sale.
No way would I spend $100+ on a pair of boots - not even Sorels, which are the go to serious snow boot in these parts. I got mine years ago on sale for about $50.
I don't know, they are well made and I have been told by my daughters they are very comfortable and shape to your foot so they fit perfectly. I personally don't think they are really ugly. Well, some of them are, but I think some of them are cute. My daughters have both Uggs and Dawgs (knockoff brand).
Seems like they are still in fashion in LA; you see pictures of celebrities wearing them a lot (not that they need boots in LA).
I have paid around $100 for a pair of leather Chaco sandals. They too start out a little tight but shape to fit your foot exactly and are so comfortable. And a pair will last me 3 or 4 years. I don't have a problem spending money on quality shoes. And I'm definitely not a shoe person, but when I buy a pair I want quality and comfort. I usually have one pair of tennis shoes, a pair or two of sandals, my black flats that I have worn for years and years because they are so comfortable and they don't make them like that anymore. If I could find a pair of new ones I would buy them and believe me, I have looked. I find the new version of the same brand/style, but it's not the same shoe.
I must be an unfashionable 60something--but I love my Uggs. I have 4 pair. No, knockoffs are not the same. Faux fur lining is not as soft or warm. I have 2 black, (one short one tall) Bailey Bows, one gray short button boot, and one tall purple. I also have quite a few other pairs of boots. I live on a mountain, and it gets cold. I use the short Uggs as house slippers. The tall Uggs are fine for walking in town, but not good for walking our property.
Hey, if you like them, buy them.
But in my area, that boat left the dock years ago. The fashionable 20-somethings have moved on....
It wasn't a blogger's opinion. It was pictures of people in Hollywood wearing them. If you don't like them, fine. I was asking people who DO like them what styles they like.
And.....you're not 20-something, are you? I'd guess not, since you have an empty nest. So the question didn't apply to you and I wouldn't expect you to know what 20-somethings like and don't like. You might have kids who don't like them. That doesn't mean no one does.
