I recently came across a box of fabric- mostly yards of wool in various colors- and now I'm itching to get crafty! I want to surprise someone (male) with a really cool handmade item, and so far all I've come up with is some type of scarf... Anyone have any ideas for accessories (that don't require physical measurements) for men? Or unisex items? What other ways can I utilize this box of fabric without all-out making a quilt..?!

Ties, but they don't use much fabric and require fairly good sewing skills. Um, let's see - how about iPad covers, laptop bags, stuff like that?

Gloves and socks would be really useful. You can always make PJs and that doesn't require a ton of sewing skills.

Oh wow, these are all great ideas so far!!! My mom used to make braided rugs, so that's an idea I was tossing around as well.. Not sure I have time for that, but I'm definitely working some braids into my funky scarf project!

For wool, I certainly wouldn't make PJs.

I would consider vests. Those usually just run S,M,L. The patterns/sewing are simple, and they typically have a small adjustable belt in the back to help adjust waistline fit.

Right about that, lol, it's a soft felt material but way too itchy for pjs! That'd be giving the gift of insomnia! I'm going to attempt a poncho and possibly a wrap-around skirt for myself.

What guy wouldn't want a nice pair of wool boxers.... jk. I think wool is best for outerwear.

I was going to say braided rug. I started collecting wool garments for wool rug making but had to get rid of it all when I relocated.

I hope you follow up with pictures of all the cool stuff you make!
