I use an otc lidocaine cream (Recticare) about 45 mins prior to my appointment. I put it all over the area then wrap in plastic wrap. Numbs the area well enough that I can make it through without crying and moving around. Waxing sure does make the area more smooth than shaving but it adds up cost wise.
It hurts like hell each time she pulls the strip away, but it only lasts for about 10 seconds. The most bizarre burning sensation .... The 40-Year-Old Virgin scene was not an exaggeration.
You also will have to get used to an aesthetician seeing all of your hoo-hoo, even with a paper bikini bottom.

Lol a local woman who owns a local wax salon with her husband, wrote a book a few years ago titled The Happy Hoo-Ha. Funny as heck. She really has seen everything.
That's why I do it myself at home! The idea of some stranger being that up close in my lady business is bad enough, but I always worried about the stories they swap after hours, too I mean, what if I had some deformity that the dude's I've slept with have been too polite to mention, but everyone down at the wax shop knows all about it?

The least clothing I'll ever wear is a waterproof muscle tank with swim shorts.

I can't believe women pay money for that kind of misery..... I guess I wonder, what do you think is so wrong with a little bit of bush peeking out? For myself, I just trim neatly, as close as I can. Shaving produces horrible irritation and bumps, as others have suggested. I have a good figure from working out and show it off at the beach in my fairly modest bikini - I occasionally have a few hairs sticking out, but unless someone is really, really close it is not all that visible; and frankly I really don't care.
As far as upper lip - I have a few fine hairs that need to be removed from time to time and I just tweeze them out.

Woman how in the world do you do your own?!! I know you can buy the wax and stuff. I can only wax the front, anything down under would hurt to much, and if you hesitate on the rip off it's even worse.
I have strong roots in both my teeth (seen when I had four teeth pulled for braces as a kid) and my hair follicles. I keep everything very trimmed, but will get a full brazillian a few times a year to change it up.

Has it not occurred to any of you hair-haters that when your bum is in someone's face they could have a pinhole camera and/or video trained on your backside/frontside and could be sharing pictures of your parts to others?
I think how uncomfortable the waxing feels is the least thing I would worry about...

1. Do you use your real name when you make an appointment? (And would it be possible then to find a face photo of you, say from Facebook, for example?)

Well, that could be done in thousands of places like public restrooms, locker rooms, etc. I really can't run around so worried that someone is going to take a picture of my privates and post it.
