Recently I have noticed over the course of the past two and a half decades, starting with the 90s that the Goth Subculture has been on a steady decline everywhere. Now, it's almost as if they have disappeared entirely.

Now keep in mind that I am not talking about Emo's, I am talking about actual Goths here.

No I know for a fact that within the Goth subculture there are (or were) many kinds of Goths, namely Victorian Goths, Vampire goths, etc. But are those types of Goths even around anymore?

If so, then how come they aren't seen as often as they used to.

If not, then when did they vanish and why??

Finally, if the Goth Subculture is fading away like how I have seen over the years and like how many people have wondered about themselves, will Goth be out of style entirely by the year 2017 or the early 2020's?

I'd really like to know about this overall.

Goth is so old now some teenagers are doing it because it's retro. One goth revivalist movement is "Health Goths"

The electronic artist Grimes is a good example of the contemporary goth inspired teenager.

In other words, although some teenagers are reviving it for retro purposes (which I can only imagine is relatively small at most), the real Goths who were once part of the subculture are gone due to it being out of style.. Correct?

I was a goth back in the late 80's/early 90's, art school etc. This period was also the last of the old school punks and skin heads. Are straight edge people still around? Most of my friends during this period fit into one of these categories.

I don't see that Grimes girl as goth at all. She is a mix of pop, hippie, bohemia and some techno or industrial club kid on the side.

Like Siouxie Sioux? I think "real" Goths are gone mainly because they are old. Aren't they 60?

No, no, no

Some of they keep their style till old age because that is who they are. It is not not just fashion or trend, it is identitety. I love to see old folks with grey hair who are still rockish, gothish etc.

I haven't seen goth in about 10 or 15 years. Not old school goth, anyway.
