I honestly cannot understand why we continue to feed into unrealistic expectations. Stop wearing that crap. If you want a flat tummy and a nice butt then workout. If you don't then who cares, wear what you're going to wear. Lines / rolls at the waist are natural to some extent when you bend / hunch over - everyone has them, so tell me why we should hide it under a sausage casing? The more women wear this crap the more women see them and think that perhaps their bodies are wrong when in fact they are perfectly normal.
Sometimes it is nice to look a little smoother. Also, this is not a new thing. For women of a certain age, a girdle was part of the wardrobe required to go out of the house!

Some women go overboard, and wear multiple layers of shapewear. That is excessive. Trying to lose 5 inches via shape wear = not a good idea. Shape wear to make sure you don't have muffin top under your outfit? No big deal.

Additionally, even "fit" or "slim" people may have "bulges" they want to smooth out.

I have some shape wear, but I find it uncomfortable. I most definitely need a smoother-outer under some garments, but I prefer just a high waisted spandex panty to hold snugly, but gently.

I do the same. The high waisted panty works perfectly me for me for all of my use cases.

It's not an alternative to exercising and diet for me LOL. It just smoothes out my belly in certain dresses or skirts. Its not something I wear daily.

Did you get the type that you pull over your head (for tummy only)? Or the one that pulls up to cover your hips, too?

Hips (I'm Jshap-new name). I think the one you pull over your head would show under clothes.
