I remember men's leather Flyer's jackets like the WWII style Army Air force A2 and the USN G1 with the mouton [fur collar] used to be a big hit back in the 1980's, especially after Top Gun
These days I rarely see anybody wearing a leather flight jacket, did they go out of style?
My teenager has one. She wears it with aviator sunglasses and sometimes a white scarf. She's aware that it's more of a retro look and that's why she likes it.
Honestly, as an aviation nerd myself, they're dated. I have a silk-lined A-2 and will wear it occasionally.
Now here's the difference though and I'm not talking about leather knock-offs or the sage green nylon variety. The B-3 jacket is the type used by actual bomber crews during WWII flying at high altitude. These are the ones that are dark brown sheepskin and lined with wool. Absolutely stunning coat with an absolutely stunning pricetag. In my opinion, these haven't necessarily gone out of style because many of them are utilitarian. Heck, if I lived in Montana, I'd have one too.
