Hilarious world... Youngest are 11 years to be prettier down there... Meanwhile circumcision supposed to be understood as a horrible thing...
Is there anything what human being could accept on her own natural existence?
Anyway what are these mothers thinking when they are paying intimate plastic surgery to 11 years old and teenagers?
Our brains are really ugly, why we don't have a culture to fill something beautiful inside our scull? Then we could post brain selfies to twitter and see if we become the next top model
I understand my grandmother now when she thought piercings are terrible
I think I read something recently about vaginal reconstriction sugery rates increasing and even children have had them (I am sure that is not the norm because if a child at age 11 was concerned about the way her vagina looked I was really alarmed ). I actually saw an add for this type of procedure on the subway. I think it is totally insane, but if there is someone crazy enought to want it then there will always be someone willing to take their money.
well, if there is a deformity or some huge flabs hanging around, yes, there should be surgery possible even for teenagers.
What is the alternative? Her being made fun of at school? Girls AND boys might laugh at her. And then what? Insecurity all her life?
It might be different in Europe, but I'm fairly certain that no one I went to school with (just regular students) ever saw my vulva. When we had to change for gym we all kept our backs turned and mastered putting on and removing bras under shirts. Nobody was walking around naked and nobody was staring at anyone's crotch.
Like you said, a deformity might warrant surgery, but other than that women have enough societal pressure to conform their bodies. I'm guessing that this particular insecurity comes from exposure to porn, since how else would women even know to be self-conscious about this?

okok, I had to shower with other girls when I grew up. Then there was showering after volleyball... But I guess the US is different.
But you know, it may just take one friend she is showing her vulva to (while trying on clothes, playing, comparing, stuff teenagers do ....) and this friend may run around at school, ratting her out and there we go ... Or when she is having sex for the first time ... rumors are spread so fast ...
I was 5 when I compared my "stuff" with the neighbors boy. Of course my vag could have been green and blinking and I wouldn't have known it is abnormal but there was no internet and nothing to compare to.
I think we have to make a difference here between a intimate plastic surgery for the reason that it isn't looking 100% like it supposed to and a huge beef curtain or whatever else could be extremely embarrassing down there. I think it could ruin somebodies life just as much as a massive nose or a wart in the face.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has issued recommendations for dealing with an increase in demand for labiaplasty amongst teens, the New York Times reports.
Gynecologists are reportedly receiving requests every week from teenage patients interested in surgically trimming their labia minora, mostly for cosmetic reasons. Physicians are “sort of baffled” by the increase in demand, Dr. Julie Strickland, the chairwoman of A.C.O.G.’s committee on adolescent health care, told the Times; the newly released guideline points to “increasing trends in pubic hair removal, exposure to idealized images of genital anatomy, and increasing awareness of cosmetic vaginal surgery” as possible catalysts.
Sometimes if the inner labia stick out a lot, it can be uncomfortable in some clothes and during some exercise. I can see wanting a procedure if you were having discomfort or getting chafed or problems like that.
Just wanting it to look prettier shouldn't be a big priority, especially for young teens.
