Why are there suddenly so many Pakistanis in the fashion industry? Most of them were restricted to the UK, but now I'm hearing about North Indians in the US fashion industry.
I'm tolerant of muslim positive discrimination but it's very similar to Indian Bollywood racism , which I've always considered to be a non-problem in the west, and needs to be stopped. Saying it's to balance out anti-muslim racism is still racist.
1. I don't know of "so many" Pakistanis in "the" industry.
2. Most of the US fashion is dictated by non-US designers and design houses.
3. There are a lot of Pakistanis living in the US, I imagine some of them might enjoy wearing garb that represents their own culture.
4. What do "so many Pakistanis" have to do with "North Indians in the US fashion industry?" Pakistan isn't in North India, the two are unrelated.
I think that perhaps you're pushing a little too hard against some kind of racism that simply doesn't exist, at least not here in the USA.
Being born in Singapore and ethnically called a Eurasian, i.e. Chinese mother but with a dad who had a Japanese mum and a dad who was Indian and English. My parents brought me to the UK because they were going to do post grad studies in health (Mum) and telecommunications (Dad) and I went to a boarding school. In all my time moving around the world with them I have never felt any "racism". I certainly do not feel superior or inferior and accept everyone as an equal. I think there is too much talk about racism.
