Baseball hats on women fall into the same zone as short hair, tattoos, and body piercings. If you are thin with feminine features, it looks edgy and hip, if you are not, it looks masculine.
People can wear what they want, but I'm not a baseball cap person myself. I don't own any and I wouldn't wear one. I know a woman who ALWAYS wears a baseball cap. She's in her early fifties, significantly overweight, and dresses like a slob in baggy cargo pants, big sweatshirts with sayings on them or sports team names, and always with the baseball caps. She looks like a fat old Charlie Brown, EXCEPT--she gets her nails done regularly. Always has a beautiful manicure with pretty color polish. It's an odd note to the rest of her look.
Almost all young Moms dropping off their kids at school are in baseball caps: have not showered yet/ hiding dirty hair under caps. Baseball caps/yoga pants generation
I guess you've never played golf, or been a hiker, or a gardener, or an equestrian, among other things. I wear one in the early morning when I walk the dog as do many other walkers - much easier than fixing my hair at 6AM only to have it fall flat in the early morning dampness. At least I look tidy. I'll wear one in the sun to protect my eyes, especially if I'm hiking or birding or gardening. I'll wear one outdoors in bad weather - it still looks better than my hair which looks awful when in heavy rain or fog. And obviously I wear one when playing golf, as do many many golfers both female and male. That or visors, which don't look good on me at all for some reason. Nike is my favorite brand (someone else mentioned Nike) as their design is the most flattering on me. I have them in various colors from a variety of golf courses. When I had horses and was required to wear a helmet when riding, I'd wear one after removing the helmet which had given me true helmet hair. Always color coordinated, by the way. And I don't do sequins!
Yep, much of this. (Including the sequin thing. I'm not into bling.)

I have a convertible and have to wear a hat or my hair is a frizzy mess when I get out. I prefer a baseball cap as others I've tried won't stay on my head once I get moving. It also means I don't have to wear sunglasses while I'm driving which is a bonus.
My G/F wears a baseball cap when we go hiking or bike riding or playing tennis, I think she looks great. I really don't see what the big deal is, and I don't think it makes her look masculine either.
For the first time in a long time, I wore a baseball cap for my hike in the woods and man oh man, I looked hawt! I will go to Walmart and purchase more because I looked too cute. I did a double take in the mirror.
