why are most dresses sleeveless or short sleeves? Don't designers know that in some states in February, it's usually freakin' cold. At least it is where I live. Where are some good places to find a warm dress? JCPenney's seems to have a large selection
That's what cardigans are for. Land's End sometimes has cute/work appropriate dresses with sleeves.
My pet peeve about dresses is when they have a zipper up the back. As a perpetually single gal (and without a ladies' maid,) getting in and out of them involves Cirque du Soleil-level contortions.

Seriously! And I do not have much upper back flexibility. Have such an awkward routine worked out. Pulling the dress up. Shifting it back down etc. There are a few dresses I never unzip.
It is a perk when there is a Mr. Jade available to help with this task.
If I can't get it zipped fairly quickly in the dressing room, it stays at the store.

And to me, this new style of having bright gold or silver zippers running top to bottom on the backs of dresses is about as ugly as it gets.
Back when I wore dresses (before I retired), I made my clothes and had plenty of winter dresses with long sleeves. People don't make their clothes these days.

I'm with you on this pet peeve. I have a few long sleeve dresses (they are hard to find). A wrap is okay if it's chilly, but in winter weather you need a coat. What are you supposed to do, carry a wrap while you wear your coat? A cardigan would just look ugly if the event was semi formal.
Truth be known, I avoid anything I can that requires me to dress up. But weddings and funerals are hard to avoid.
Penny's is where I've been able to find long sleeve dresses the past few years.
I also don't have a major problem finding dresses with long sleeves. I just rarely buy them, because I get more wear out of short sleeved ones for more of the year.

I like it, on the right dress. But it went from interesting to lazy and a way for manufacturers to cheap out.
