I was depotting an Urban Decay Naked 2 palette last night and had the black shade crumble all over my countertop. No biggie, I rarely wear black eyeshadow anyway. I went to wipe it off with a baby wipe immediately and then wiped again with a wet cloth. Unfortunately, the streaks are still there this morning and are very obvious. My next attempt was some soft scrub and a kitchen sponge with scrubby backside. Nope, still there, never seen such a powerful eyeshadow before

Anyone have any ideas on how to remove this stuff without destroying my counter further? The counter is granite or quartz, can't remember which.

Could it be a marble counter? If so those definitely stain. I thought granite doesn't if sealed. I have spilled turmeric and seen a little residual yellow. My granite counter is dark but the tint seemed to go away, and I didn't put in a lot of effort.

Have you tried bon ami? It is a cheap and gentle cleanser. Definitely worth a try. You can use to for pots / sinks / tubs if doesn't work out for this. I love it.

Hmm, I didn't think it was marble, will have to clarify with my husband. I'll look into the bon ami, worth a shot. Thanks for the recommendation Jade.

This probably sounds crazy, but it worked on my cultured marble for hairspray droplets: just plain old rubbing alcohol. I don't know if it works on makeup but I'd love to know if it does. I use the bon ami on my tile and it works great but that's the extent of my experience with it. Good luck.

I use Clorox Clean-up for stains on counters.

The rubbing alcohol actually worked really well, thank you!

If it came off the easy ... I would be surprised if the surface was granite or marble. From my experience it is really hard to remove stains from these surfaces. I regret using granite in my home.

Quartz shouldn't accept the "stain"...but a natural stone will!

I use hydrogen peroxide for most any stain. If it is a stubborn stain, I put a hydrogen peroxide soaked piece of white bread on stain overnight.
