I have to say, I mostly dress according my standards, but within the past 5 or so years, my kids have had a major influence on what I wear. I am in my late 40s and have always had an athletic/somewhat muscular build. People always have told me I look young for my age. My teenage son has always told me I look "my best" when wearing certain athletic gear (Under Armour, Adidas track pants, running shoes, etc.). And I take it as a compliment that he always wants to borrow my clothes. My teenage daughter on the other hand convinced me a few years ago that I could get away with slim tapered jeans (not skinny) jeans and slim/athletic cut shirts. So now, I cringe when I even think about "dad jeans" or certain other clothing articles that could "show my age". I try not to look like I am trying too hard to DRESS young, but also don't want to look like the average soccer dad (if that is the correct term). So yes, my kids have a major influence on how I present myself.
I have three sons, and they have each influenced my husband with little things, like cooler socks and shoes, but he will always default to what makes him comfortable.
Of course, sometimes change does require soliciting the opinion of a caring observer. I will never forget the Thanksgiving we were all sitting around after dinner joking about clueless people and my father-in-law, who at that time had a recognizable but not ridiculous combover, said, "Well you guys be sure to tell me if I do anything dumb like get a combover or anything like that."
We all looked around the table at each other, speechless, until finally my brother-in-law said, "Um, dad, I think today is that day."
He went out and got it cut off the next week.
My sons finally had to tell my husband that he looked like Jerry Seinfeld with his big dad jeans and white tennis shoes. So he brought his wardrobe into the millennium by ditching those.
Hubby wears whatever I buy him, so he looks nice, although I wish he would tuck his shirts in more. He is almost bald on top, so I had to tell him to keep getting it cut shorter, because he wasn't fooling anybody.
I am only influenced by the children because I want to stay a bit trendy whenever I can. They don't really say anything, except once my daughter told me short hair made me look my age. I had it long for awhile after that, but now ease and a tropical climate have trumped youthfulness.
Yes, I love shopping with my daughter. She has a good eye - she can tell what will fit and what won't before I bother to try it on. Saves time and $ and a room in the wardrobe.
At 80 years old, yes, somewhat my kids influence me, especially my oldest daughter who lives near us. When I get a new top and she tells me how much she likes it or it is so stylish, you can be pretty sure I want to wear it over and over. I think I am pretty up on style and realize we need to dress according to our age somewhat, but I also don't want to start looking like an old lady. Maybe when I am 85 or so I will feel differently.

Those styles are coming back so your husband is (or was) the fashion forward one in this case.
A little... my 13yo daughter is the only one who comments and I usually agree when she thinks an outfit looks good on me. It's nice to get compliments. I probably influence her more still, though. She wears a lot of my hand-me-downs
She did encourage me to get a certain shirt (it was on clearance and she thought it was "so cute!" on me). I'm really glad she did- it's one of my favorites now!
My boys don't notice anything I wear (or at least don't comment on it).
