In accordance with Forum rules, this rejuvenated thread shall focus ONLY on the prevalence of studs, earings, and other visible body piercings on males around me. It is not a criticism of piercings, just observation.
To sum up, such piercings have gone from being the exception to being the rule, baseD on my Empirical observations out in public, at work, and at social gatherings. In short, it makes me, the non-bearer of such piercings, feel self-conscious here in good ol 2017.

I still believe in certain jobs, non-traditional piercings should not be visible. Appearance and first impressions are very important. Yet, this day and age, there are many up and coming younger CEO's etc. who role up on skateboards, where jeans to major meetings, have piercings, tattoos, etc.
It doesn't make me feel any different about myself. Though I found some piercings distracting if they're on a place where I can see their shininess when I'm talking to the person.

I have pierced ears, other than that - no piercings. I don't feel self-conscious at all.
I'm talking about males, the majoritynof which around me wear ear piercings.
don't have a clue where you live, but other than ear piercing, people with body piercing do not give others a positive feeling about them. For either sex ear piercing is ok, but not norm. Otherwise, give the holes up. it is not becoming in the least.

Never change who you are for a fad. The fact that you do not have piercings is not a short coming. Your choice has been not to have piercings, so do not let the fact that others do make you feel self-conscious.
I'm an old guy, so obviously, some of this new body altering stuff hurts my head. When I see some pretty young girl with a nose ring, or eyebrow ring, or lip ring, I think "She would be so much prettier if she didn't have that sticking out of her face like that." Even guys are sticking things like that into their faces and bodies any more.
From a comfort standpoint, it can't be comfortable. I can't imagine trying to sleep with some metal sticking out of your face. And don't even get me started on tongue piercings !

Well, as I pointed out on the previous thread, because of the widespread prevalence of piercings on other men, I now feel conspicuous by the absence of such piercings, in my ears or elsewhere.
