I wear sandals any time it is warm enough, but only barefoot in my house or yard. Because people are nasty and spit on sidewalks and who knows what else and I don't want to step in that.
When I was a kid, though, I went barefoot all the time. I remember my feet being tender walking on rocks in May, but by the end of summer they were toughened up.
Yeah, it's lots of fun running a glass sliver into the bottom of your foot and breaking it off so you have to dig it out with a needle, or ripping your big toenail off when you misjudge where that door's going to open, or stepping in dog poo.
I used to go barefoot a lot as a kid, and something like the above happened to me almost every day in the summer. I finally gave up on it.
I got a lot of slivers, once stepped on a thumb tack, and broke a few toes. It didn't stop me from running around barefoot.
Sure doesn't work for anybody who has high arches or who has had plantar fascitis. (sorry spelled wrong and spell check wants me to change it to fascists!) I used to run around barefoot all summer when I was a kid.
It's "fasciitis" (two i's back to back). That's kind of a tough one.
Umm, no, it isn’t. I don’t know anyone that prefers going barefoot in their daily life. While you’re at home, sure. Maybe walking in the yard, as long as you don’t have a dog, sure. But generally, people prefer to wear shoes. Kind of a no brainer.
Right, and that article seemed pretty tongue-in-cheek. Where I live it is cold and wet outside. Ain't nobody going around barefoot.

I have no dog, but I have had my share of stepping into dogcrap in my own damn yard. Azzhat neighbors that let their dogs get out and I'm on a corner lot. Not so much anymore though...red pepper does wonders.
When I was a kid, I ran around a lot barefoot too. I lived in Florida.
As I've gotten older, being barefoot isn't as comfortable to me as it used to be. I think it's because as we get older, we lose the padding in our heels, we get fallen arches, etc., and we need the support that shoes give us.
Unless you’re near the beach or at a park, it’s a bad idea.
