A relief for you and a lot of other parents I imagine. I bet it was also a relief to your clothing budget for your kids too.

I know most kids wouldn't be happy about uniforms, but I think it's something they should not have a choice or say about. Other people who have to wear uniforms don't get a say in the matter, so there's no reason why children should have that privilege. That could be pointed out to kids, including the fact that school is the place to go to get an education, not a place to go to attract attention or make a fashion statement and be fashion plates. They can be fashion plates on weekends and after school when they get back home and change out of their uniforms.

Now, besides the dress I wear to work and a coat I have a pair of ragged jeans, a pair of worn out jogging pants and a few tops. Don't need more at the moment and I'm fine with it.

I'm thinking the students of the 100-day dress teacher absorbed some important lessons about our throw-away culture and what it means to pay attention to the choices one makes. I commend her.

I teach classes to underprivileged women, with a particular organization, about twice a week. One of the later classes I teach is how to dress professionally and on a budget. So I don't tell them that I'm wearing the same black pants to every class till I teach this particular class.

That's because I want to show them how to build a professional wardrobe around one color and a couple of basic pieces - like, for instance, black pants. A black skirt if they like skirts. Maybe a black blazer or sweater. Then you throw in a few tops, a few scarves, and one or two pairs of black shoes. Oh and the pants I wear came from a thrift shop, I bought them several years ago, for $2. And they get vouchers from local thrift shops, and then we take them shopping and they can build a professional wardrobe basically for free or next to nothing- typically under $20 for a week's worth of clothes.
