I started looking for a fragrance I remembered from my youth about 15 years ago. Never found the fragrance (which had distinct lime and cedar notes), but I became seriously interested in fragrance and its ties to memory. I'm constantly trying new scents, and wear a cologne every day - sometimes an inexpensive classic like Grey Flannel or Old Spice, sometimes a rare and expensive fragrance. Many of the fragrances I wear you won't find in most department stores. The result of 15 years of trial and error, going through hundreds of scent samples in the process (Ted Sturgeon was right: 90% of everything is indeed crap):

Warmer weather favorites: Odin 7 Tanoke, Tauer L'Air du Desert Marocain, Guerlain Vetiver, L'Artisan Fou d'Absinthe, L'Artisan Eau de L'Artisan, Creed Baie de Geneivre, Guerlain Derby, Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist, and Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel.

Cooler weather favorites: Maitre Perfumier et Gantier Santal Noble, Piotr Czarnecki Shihan, Serge Lutens Arabie, Creed Orange Spice, Creed Bois du Portugal, Tom Ford Italian Cypress, Comme des Garcons Red Sequoia, Comme des Garcons Black Pepper, and Old Spice.

It's a risky venture, since so many overdue it. I haven't noticed cologne for years, but back in the day, boy did I love a whiff of "Drakkar Noir"!
not me.

It's funny how our tastes change. I wore Calvin Klein "Obsession" for many years in the 1980s-1990s. Now I HATE the smell of it.
Today I usually wear Tommy Bahama "St. Barts". With a soft lime scent, it seems perfect for a life in Maui.
BTW: Eternity for Men, which someone mentioned, reminds me of the scent from urinal cakes if I wear it.

I have like 17 fragrances but I hardly ever wear it. I feel like 1 spray is even too much for the office.

I wear cologne - and have different brands. I put whichever on I'm in the mood for that day.

I don't overdo the cologne, but people who are anti-cologne/perfume are not going to tell me I can't wear it either.

I like Drakkar, Bijan for Men, Jovan Musk, Obsession for Men, Hugo Boss, Fahrenheit, Diamonds by Emporio Armani, etc.

Rarely. Pretty much only a date night thing for me and I don't go on that many dates anymore.
