My white sneakers are so dirty, and although I've sometimes washed sneakers before (not lately), I've never used bleach. If you have, how much do you put in, for a small load? I've heard that beach can turn things yellow. Is this a bad idea?
when I used to wash my keds back in the day with bleach and let them dry in the sun they yellowed slightly. Try Oxi clean and see if that works. So instead I just cleaned them up and used while shoe polish whether it be leather or canvas.
Great suggestions so far. I always hand wash shoes, using a soft scrub brush.
I'd also try Oxiclean over bleach. Bleach is corrosive and can lead to the breakdown of certain materials, so go easy there...
RIT dye makes a white wash treatment, "Whitener & Brightener", which can be used after giving them a good cleaning first. They sell it in the laundry isle.
i usually throw them out if they are so dirty you cant see the color anymore . I dont wash shoes because most cheap shoes come apart when you throw them into the wash .
Won’t help now, but when you buy new canvas shoes; Scotch Guard them. Do it inside and out. Will keep your shoes cleaner, longer.
