Anyone who has lived, or is familiar with the OKC area (I live in Moore) care to bring to my attention any obvious differences between the two areas? I am thinking of moving to the area, and Im curiuos about cost of living, schools (2 elementary school kids), weather, etc.. Any info on the comparisons between the two cities would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks

Oh, and btw. My wife is a Registered Nurse. How is the job market for RNs in the area?

The nursing job market is good, that would be no problem for you.Our granddaughter is a nurse in OKC and eventully, after she finishes nurse practicianers school she may think of relocating to the Fayetteville area or somewhere in NWA.

The biggest difference you might find is the topograpy. Where OKC is flat and not particularly green, all of NWA is like a forest almost. In fact our little great granddauther thinks it is the forest and loves visiting NWA including Fayetteville area. The schools in Fayetteville are very good, as are the schools in Moore we have been told. Weatherwise, normally Fayetteville is a little cooler, and we get a little more actual winter weather. Of course that can change from year to year as we all know.

There might be one more difference that comes to mind, even it would not jump out at you: Fayetteville, is porbably a little more liberal than Moore politically, but certainly not like comparing San Francisco with Ft Smith for instance.

If I had the choice I would jump at moving from OKC to Fayetteville, but that is just me. Both cities have possitives, Fayetteville is a little more small town...

Oh and of course we have the HOgs, you have the Sooners, but there are a lot of Sooner fans here.

I see you also posted the same question or pretty much, the same about Montana and Colo. Sounds like you just want to experience someplace other than OKC. good luck to you.

Fayetteville is a lot more "small town" than OKC but is greener and prettier. I would say the NWA area is similar to what Norman would be if it wasn't in OKC's shadow with trees and hills thrown in. When coming back from Charlotte I had the choice of living in OKC or in Fayetteville and chose OKC because I prefer more urban areas, but Fayetteville is also a nice place and has its own strengths.
