Tulsa is in northeast Oklahoma close to Northwest Arkansas. When I live there for two year in 2005 and 2006 we got some blizzards. So I would say it is not routine but definitely not outside the norm.

Well we are going on the 4th week straight of huge snowstorms and then dangerously cold temps so NWA will be a piece of cake for me (I'm in Chicago)

Though Tulsa is relatively close, they are 2 hours away from NWA and the weather, though similar, can be very different. I believe Tulsa gets a lot more snow, as a rule, than we get.

Yeah, Tulsa gets a lot more snow on average than NWA. The hills affect the cold fronts coming down the plains and its not uncommon for Tulsa to get several inches of snow while there is none in NWA.

The wind this year has been really unusually bad, too.

I think it is the wind that is driving most of us the craziest. Last week while our daughter was in the hospital and we visited her every day, I thought I would freeze just walking from the car to the front of the hospital. She sure picked a lousy time to have back surgery!!!

7th coldest winter in Fayetteville history according to meterologists

Anyone in here saying this is typical or even close to average is insane

I am thinking about the same thing. The good news, it appears, even the winter weather heading our way in the next few days won't be anything like what we have been experiencing lately. .I sure hope it isn't as bad. We are having so much work done on our house, new furniture, old stuff hauled away and we don't need the weather to interfere. PLus, like many of us, we have doctors appointments next week, the dogs will go nuts if we leave them with the work men here, but we don't want to take them if the roads are icy, not to mention driving them or the poor kids missing another day of school. At this rate they will be in school til July.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry:: The wonderful news said last night: just flurries here in NWA today, with most of the snow falling in the central part of the state: Well I don't have a clue how much the mid part of the state is getting, but I can assure you, we are getting more than a few flurries and it started way before mid afternoon. In fact, when we left church at 9:40 it was snowing and the late service as well as Sunday school was cancelled. At least we were able to get to the kitty cats we had to take care of, quickly head to WalMart for some wine and to drop off plastic bags and now we are home to settle in and pretend like we are having Super Bowl party. !!!!
