Just read last night, in our local paper, a recent study says Bella Vista is the 2nd safest city in AR. Of course I am not a huge believer in studies, but it does give us bragging rights until another study comes out saying this isn't true.

My dad just passed away so my brother from California demanded security system for Mom. I tried to tell him this isn't Los Angeles but....so I put the system in and I call that a waste of money because I'm paying for it like 45 a month after the 245 to put in. She feels safer so I guess it was alright but her neighborhood is quite safe. I do think Bella Vista is a rather safe city. What I will say though is that with all the seniors she gets more scams on the phone than I do. Like fake IRS callers!

Make sure you tell her home insurance company that she has a security system. She will get a credit on her insurance. $$

I am not surprised by this at all. If the commute wouldn't be so bad I might consider buying up there. Here are some reasons why it is safe:

Estimated median household income in 2015: $64,048 (it was $44,090 in 2000)
Bella Vista: $64,048
AR: $41,995

Races in Bella Vista, AR (2015)

White alone 26,306 =90.9%
Hispanic 1,260 =4.4%
Two or more races 436 =1.5%
Asian alone 298 =1.0%
Black alone 242 =0.8%

It is kind of a trend you see with Arkansas and much of America. Typically the higher the income the lower the crime.

I knew someone would ask me that question. It is a very small city of barely over 5000 people.

Debbie is right; watch out for the phone scams. In fact one of our senior retirement communitys here just had a speaker talk to them about scmas. I am not sure it is any worse than anywhere else, but it does exist.
