The leg of the future 412 bypass between I-49 and AR-112 will open April 30 according to Fayetteville Flyer. I'm ready to try it out when it does open. Been driving by it almost every day the past couple years while it's been constructed. NWA is definitely feeling bigger with the I-49 widening and hospital additions. Pretty soon we'll all be clamoring for 8 lanes

I'm guessing this would make a commute from Siloam Springs quicker to Bentonville. Maybe I should look for a house down at the other end of the bypass.

On the news last night they referred to how much faster it would be to get to the airport. It is like our by pass here from Bentonville to the Highlands section of Bella Vista. We save so much time when traveling to Gravette, Bentonville or even the southern most tip of Bella Vista. Now, if Mo would just come up with the money to expend the by pass to their state, like was the original plan we would all be so happy.

Mo had the money for a long time ( 5 years or so) and Arkansas dropped the ball. So-- just wanted to make note on that!

yep, I am very much aware of that, most of us who follow what is going on in our region war aware but the fact still remains they do not have it now. i am not blaming anyone, just pointing out how nice it would be to get it finished and there isn't all that much to do.

I know. I wish it was in the process of being finished too.

I would be really interested to see the numbers if they existed of commuters daily on I-49 North and South. I would imagine it is in the neighborhood of 200,000 or more going North at least from Fayetteville.

Can't you voters in NWA create ballot measures (initiatives) for specific things, like temporarily raise the gas tax to pay for more highways/freeways? That's how we (metro Phoenix) funded our massive new freeway system.)?

I am not sure exactly what you are talking about, but if it is the completion of the by pass, the funds from AR are available but MO was or is responsible for providing funds and have no money left. I doubt many in NWA, as much as we want it complete feel like paying for the entire completion.
