To all of you on this page. Fayetteville is an old town not much to brag about. As stated the traffic is awful, the Hogs are at best mediocre and the only Long John Silvers has closed BUT. It is a great town for other things. If you are a Vet and use the VA hospitals I can tell you there is none better, They absoilutely care and the people who serve there are great.

well, first of all, this posting is over 2 years old, kinda outdated, wouldn't you say???

Now, add to it, the Razorbacks may be mediocre in your view and indeed they have been that the last few years, they have had some great teams in the past, have a rated baseball team this year and Fayetteville is beautiful, the picture of middle America...Maybe you are not impressed, many of us are. There is more to life and towns than how much traffic, old can be lovely..!!!!

Ok, Fayetteville is an old town with at best bad Pizza. I live here because of the VA hospital, as I said it is the best bar none. It is a town with a College that is OK and a population of old people and students. I really am not complaining about it I am just being honest. Taxes here are highest in the state, community projects are lowest in the state and once again. "Traffic is awful".

What exactly do you mean by community projects?

Does anyone know of the Green Valley Initiative taking place in Fayetteville. I've heard several Swedish are setting up businesses in Fayetteville selling sustainability.

Tom, Fayetteville is much more than bad pizza, old people, college students and the VA Hospital. In fact, Fayetteville once again made Forbes' Top 10 "Best Places For Business and Careers" in 2009. Fayetteville is up to #4 on the list...The Best Places For Business And Careers - Forbes.com. Fayetteville has been on these lists in several major publications such as Forbes, Kiplingers and Money magazine for years praises not only the business culture, but the quality of life. Fayetteville is also a regular on lists from outdoor life magazines. Fayetteville is also a part of a community which is 425,000 people per the latest SMSA data. The population base is made up of people from all over the country who have moved here for work. The area has many cultural events, a world-class museum opening soon, world class outdoor life, a very nice lake, a major university (which was underestimated by Tom), good shopping and most amenities found in much larger population bases. Depsite Tom's opinion, there is a very diverse collection of restaurants in the area including many only found in NW Arkansas. The traffic is a problem and there does not appear to much effort to remedy that situation. The population base is about 50% larger than the infrastructure can easily handle. Part of that was due to poor planning, but the majority is due to the fact there was not enough money available to accommodate the explosion of growth in the last 20 years. If you are "green" and very environmentally conscious, Fayetteville will suit you well.
