In this unique reference, every one of America s 379 metropolitan areas is rated by factors that are important to anyone considering a move. It gives numerical rankings on Costs of Living, Transportation, Jobs, Education, Climate, Crime, The Arts, Health Care, Recreation, and a composite score of all of these.
2007 is still going to be pretty dated imho. I got a book on investing in a certain country once, it was only a year old but it was still completely outdated.

Since the initial question actually was more about weather, there is current and historical data at wunderground.com and at the NOAA.gov websites. The wunderground.com site is more user friendly. Places Rated has a website at placesrated.expertchoices.com. if other data interests you. No data on other topics is likely to be exact to the current date. I would suspect the Places Rated site updates their data yearly. Wikipedia also gives general graphs for weather for cities.

yep, these books and the information on the web can be outdated. I usually just use them as a guide line, the same as much of what I read. Again, as for weather, averages really mean very little.
