Just got an offer for a great opportunity in Flagstaff, it would be a very stable job with no risk of layoffs and a good salary, very close to the airport.

Trouble is, if I accept, I'll need to be out there in less than a month.

First question: Do any of the student housing places allow non-students to rent? I've heard that in some college towns, "student housing" is just "expect things to be rowdy", which scares off most everyone who isn't a student. I'm still young enough to fit in with graduate students, but more important is the ability to get a decent private room/bath on such short notice.

Second question: Once my wife and I are established, could we purchase a home in Flagstaff with relative confidence that we could at least sell for what we paid? It looks like the market in Flagstaff is one that favors sellers. We'd be looking for a modest 2bd/1.5ba with a garage under $200k, which might be easier to sell than an expensive new home.

This opportunity in Flagstaff is a dream come true, but we'll need to be able to afford it.

If by "student housing places" you mean apartments near the University where a lot of students live, the answer would be yes. Dormitories, no. Privately owned places that are the equivalent of dorms (if NAU has any of those), I don't know.

I would think you would be able to sell for what you paid, assuming you haven't overpaid.
