Can anyone provide info on Sedona for me please? We are thinking of retirement options and Arizona has entered the conversation. We are not into golf and alot of sports. Biking, walking, gardening would be the only outdoor activities we would be doing. Who knows, in 5 years we might be golfers.

What type of info are you seeking? Cost of living, housing? Climate? Crime rate? Activities? Population?

Where are you living now?

Sedona's nickname of "Beverly Hills on the Rocks" speaks for itself as far as affordability of homes.

Scenery? IMHO, the red rocks of Sedona are hard to beat.

Climate? Not as hot as Phx in the summer, and not as cold as Flag in the winter.

Good location since you're not that far from Phx, Flag, Prescott, etc., etc.

Arizona offers the best of both worlds: desert and mountains.

Default Dark nights

Was in Sedona on vacation a few weeks ago. They roll up the sidewalks at 7 p.m. There is NOTHING to do at night except dine in expensive restaurants or go to the movies at the one and only cineplex (I believe it had 3 screens).

In addition, the nights are DARK. Sedona is a "dark sky city," meaning that outdoor lighting is nearly non-existent to allow the stars to be visible. This is a great idea in theory, but I found it a bit eerie in reality. Would take some getting used to.

That said, if you can afford to live where the average home price is half a million, it is absolutely gorgeous country -- and within a half-hour drive of vastly different terrain and climate if you like variety.
