Hi,
I'm going to attend the University of Florida and my husband and I will be moving there this summer. I have one child (infant, 2 months) and a dog and a cat. I'd like to find a house that could accomodate us but is not too expensive. What are the best neighborhoods that could allow me to take the bus to school (so I'm close to campus), close to stores, restaurants, and still in a nice neighborhood? As a college student I can't afford too much, so hopefully there's a happy medium somewhere. My husband works from home, so location is not so important for him. We also like to be close to things where we can walk to, and have access to farmers' markets, etc. We like to be in "progressive" neighborhoods also, we are vegetarians.
Thanks so much!
Mimi

Not sure a place exists to meet all those. The walkable locations are by downtown/university. Downtown has some questionable areas and around UF it's tons of students in housing. It all really depends on your price range. If you can afford Duckpond that would probably meet all your requirements.

You may want to look north of 8th avenue between 13th and 34th streets. That is a more residential area but there won't be as much to walk to.
