Has a drive-by shooting taken place in your town/city?

Florida ranks second in the country in the number of drive-by shootings, according to the Violence Police Center on Wednesday.

Fifty-seven drive-by shootings were reported by news organizations from July 2006 to December 2006 in the state of Florida.
6 MONTHS WOW
According to the study, Florida ranks second only to California. Texas ranked third in the country.

While it may sound disturbing, the way the data was collected is a bit controversial.

The Violence Policy Center used the Internet search engine Google to find stories with the term drive-by in them. However, not all reporters use the term drive-by in their stories. Is this true or accurate?

The Violence Policy Center said their study is not perfect, but hope it sparks discussion with policymakers. So why make the report and give the state another black eye

Yeah, Sunrico. That poll is useless. Who develops that kind of poll based on a google search?

Default what's the point of posting inaccurate information...

and opening up another can of worms for FL.....Why even post this and make a bigger deal out of a totally non-reliable study??

Gives the opportunity for individuals to know what was posted in national articles and many individuals will believe everything that is printed or presented in the news. Maybe our inputs might lessen the negative cloud that this news report and study will bring. But the question stands: Has a drive-by shooting taken place in your town/city?

In my area we have never had a drive-by shooting.

What a ridiculous study. Not very Sunrico like at all either, you usually have a positive nature!

Some one paid for the study and is presenting a negative view. Make it positive: Has a drive-by shooting taken place in your town/city?

Fairly nearby they had one in a trailer park over domestic boyfriend/girlfriend issues. That trailer park also happens to be getting evicted...read-can't that happen anywhere? Isn't it more likely to happen in a poverty stricken community? I figure I should note that the shooter was White. Other than that, no. We haven't even had a burglar in my neighborhood in years. Actually, since I have lived here, never. We definitely keep an eye out around here for crime and suspicious activities, though!

The study may be very accurate but it should be no surprise since Fla is ranked third or fourth in population.

I used to live in San Antonio TX and we had nightly drive-by shootings in the south side of the town. This was a shock to me because I don't read in the newspaper about this type of incident... Yes we are in the top 10 in population.
