Brace for more cuts to education, Medicaid, and other spending in Florida for 2012. The revenue picture is turning cloudy.

Florida could face $2.25 billion shortfall in 2012 | Ocala.com

Lawmakers will have to find nearly $1 billion to fund growing needs in Medicaid, the federal-state health care program for the poor and disabled.
This is what I've been fearing for many states: growing Medicaid rolls are taking money from other programs, like education. Now FL needs to spend $1 B more on Medicaid next year, while facing a $2.25B deficit.

At this point, I really think we need a miracle to turn this economy around.

This is bad. We need more revenue, Florida's public schools will end being dead last.

It is not the economy, it is the spending. Medicaid should have never occurred, and when it did, it should have not been expanded to what it is now.

What concerns me is that under "Obamacare", Medicaid is to be vastly expanded, and the states will be forced to eat the cost. For a state like FL, that is going to be a disaster.

Also, we still owe the feds for all of the unemployment payments that we borrowed these last few years!
