Just more attention seeking gays, these two need to leave this state alone plus we already have enough people here anyway.
I find it funny that for somebody that opposes gays & their ability to get married lives in one of the "gayest" cities in the nation!

Really? What do you know about my life and what does my social life have to do with anything with this thread?

Just gotta say, this is exactly what makes the US a wonderful place. We can have different opinions and voice them. We don't have to be oppressed drones. We tolerate each other's opinions rather than resorting to violence or having people dissapear when they fight the status quo*.

That said, I'm sure the dude has is ID by now. It was about paperwork, not his sexual preference anyway. Name change and marriage are separate things.

(* that said, I think the two party system is a con job. Why can't I be pro-life and want poor gals to get free birth control? Why can't I be for more progressive taxes but the govt never interfering in _any_ religion? Cause in the US that doesn't make sense. )

Bull. Whether or not 12 year olds can have sex or marry is not a contested issue in this country. At all. And honestly, those "certain segments of the population" often come from or control states where 13 year olds CAN marry "with consent of parent!"

Really, I'm surprised you "respect" the opinion of those who don't want gay marriage legal in Florida. It actually makes all your past moaning about how Florida doesn't have any "cosmopolitan" areas with "culture" that much more puzzling.

Toronto, Sydney, etc. are places you hold up in esteem, yet seem to forget that those are all progressive places, and are nice places to live with culture and creativity BECAUSE they are progressive and open.

Cosmopolitan/progressive tends not to thrive or co-exist nicely where there's social conservatives holding back creativy, expression and attraction of talented people.

Everyone is entitled believe what you want. It's just a damned shame socially conservative people believe that nobody else is entitled to freedoms beyond what they are comfortable with.

The Amish are the only ones I respect, since they don't demand everyone else be deprived of things they don't "believe in!"

The funny thing is that most socially conservative people also want the government to stay out of our lives as much as possible. Except when it comes to marriage of course, which is probably the most important decision a person can make.

To some people, "living free" only means the government doesn't reach into their wallet. No problems with the government forcing everyone into "the one true way" of living!

They forget that the most insidious part of Soviet style communism wasn't the "take my paycheck" part -- it was the loss of freedom to live and express oneself part.

They advocate a brand of behaviorial socialism.

Newsflash -- Toronto, Sydney, and other cities I hold in esteem were cosmopolitan/progessive in nature long before the gay marriage debate came up. And whether it passes legally in Florida doesn't affect me in the least. It's strictly a moral issue and what one believes in ...

Same sex marriage is illegal here and the ban was passed with 62% of Floridians voting for it back in 2008. So most people here DON'T approve of gay marriage. Get with the program or just "get out."

Haha, my family's been here since the 1600s, we were here first, not you. I'm an American and am going to stay in this country and raise my future kids here as well. Why did you even come here in the first place if you are just going to complain about the democracy of the country? If you don't like the way we are, then get out, don't be trying to change us. Same sex marriage will come here and a majority of Americans (53%) believe same-sex marriage should be recognized by the law as valid, with the same rights as traditional marriages. So most people here approve of gay marriage. Get with the program or just "get out."

The Bible tells us that homosexuality is a detestable sin and an abomination. He also created us as two genders- a man and a woman and also designed marriage to be between a man and a woman as well. It's like I said, most people I know don't approve of it either. I don't approve of it, never have and won't ever approve of it or think it's okay. Not to mention 30 other states also have a law saying that marriage is between a man and a woman. Plus homos aren't lacking any rights, a gay guy can marry a woman and a lesbian can marry a man.

I don't worship any book or thing made by men. The power I have found to guide me never did and never will judge a soul, this power only gives love.
