We are moving to Ormond Beach in FL in Oct.
Just wondering about toll roads in the state.
I can see us trvling across the state to the gulf side, in and around palm coast, in and out of orlando and the airports there to pick up family friends.

How much are the toll roads?
Do they take cash?
Credit cards?
How does it work???

we are fr ND.. it's all new to us.

plse share.
thks!

Get a sunpass

https://www.sunpass.com/index

It's convenient and you get a small discount compared to paying cash

The toll calculator should help you out to a degree in terms of figuring out how much everything is: https://www.sunpass.com/tollCalculator

Living in Ormond Beach and wanting to travel to the west coast, the airport or the Disney area you'll find the 417 a valuable asset versus driving I-4 which has no rhyme or reason for traffic congestion as you can find yourself sitting at a dead stop on a weekend afternoon at 2pm for instance. The 417 is never congested or backed up and despite being a few miles longer than driving I-4 averages faster without the anxiety.

Will you be commuting for work or will you be retired? There are routes that you can plan without tolls. Some will take a little longer, some about the same because of shorter distance. I like taking the back roads when I can. Much more interesting. Always good to have a SunPass though. Just in case you can't get here from there..........

we aren't retired... but we both work fr home but still can foresee ourselves trvling fr the NE coast of FL our ormond beach area to Orlando to pick up friends/family at the airport, and exploring the state.
We are just wondering if a sunpass transponder is worth it for us.. ?
thks so much

It's $4.99 at publix, and you get $4.99 in tolls when you activate it, so you are almost getting it for free. Good deal IMO, but you can't move it between cars (you can also buy the more expensive $25 one which can be moved between cars, but I'm not sure it comes with any toll credit).

I know with our Leeway/Sunpass - make sure you put down all plate numbers that the transponder will be in. They do check plate vs transponder. For us, yearly fee of 40.00 plus monthly renew rate of 30.00, but (locally) we get a discount depending on time of day we use the bridges / tolls. Normal rate for the bridges is 2.00 - we get 50% discount during peak times, but I've seen the toll as low as .75 depending on the time of day crossing.

Sure. Just in case. Get the sticker one like chopper recommended. Can't go wrong.
