I said it's not cost efficient for Florida.

Dallas/Ft. Worth is a larger metro, and both have larger city populations than Florida's largest city, Miami.

"If you have large metro's, population spread out over a vast amount of land, it doesn't make sense, especially financially."

"The metro populations don't matter because mass transit isn't designed to service cities with sprawl."

I comprehended your financial angle as well as your argument against mass transit in sprawled metro areas.

Right, and what does that have to do with Dallas ? Dallas, unlike every major city in Florida, has a population of over 1 million people. It makes sense in Dallas.

The Tampa Bay Area, for example, is comprised of over 4 1/2 million people. Yet the City of Tampa has a population of just over 300,000 and the City of St. Petersburg has a population just over 240,000.

It just doesn't make sense, especially for a cash strapped state!

^ Because Dallas is a sprawled out metro area.

It would work in Tampa but you make a good point about how to pay for it. I don't think the people here would vote for a tax increase.

Other areas( Charlotte,Raleigh/Durham) smaller than the Tampa Bay are building or working on building light rail.
