This Florida heat is no joke.

I work at an outside restaurant here in Daytona Beach.

I got there at noon and they were one of my first tables. I'm a server. He ordered a pitcher of beer, and she had 2 margaritas. They didn't want to eat until later. I kept checking on them and they said they were fine. They were there to watch the band play.

At about 2:40, I went up to them again and he said, and I quote on quote "she'll have another margarita, and I'll have another pitcher of beer."

and then BAM! Headfirst right into the table. His wife picked his head up and his cigarette was still in his mouth. He wasn't drooling or anything, but wasn't breathing, either.

I freaked out and ran to get management.

All of a sudden, everyone was circled around him and they laid him on the ground. One of the servers knew CPR, and she was pumping his chest, but nothing was working.

The parametics were taking forever. It probably took them 10 minutes to get there. They were pumping his chest the entire time over and over and nothing was working. He had no pulse.

They finally arrived, and did all they could do, and nothing still was working. They finally wheeled him out.

Everyone was in shock, including his wife who stood there sobbing, on her phone, as she followed them out.

15 minutes later, I put the tables back together, the band started playing again, we got slammed, and it was "business as usual."

I'll never forget that "dead" look on his face. It's really creepy, especially since I was the last person who he talked to.

At least he went out drinking, smoking, and listening to the band. I guess it wasn't the worst way to go.

My coworkers said, "just wait until summer."

Since I've been here, I've seen 4 or 5 people pass out from heat stroke. This, of course, has been the iceberg.

It was just a really crazy experience. One i'll never forget. Drink water people! Especially if you plan on partying in the Florida sun.

I am truly sorry you had to experience a death that way, it is really rough the first time it happens.

On a happy note, you are correct, he died doing what he and apparantly his wife enjoyed so it all seemed to end well for his ending.

Death can happen at any moment no matter what the circimstance or situation. When it is time to die you die.

Doesn't sound like he died of heat stroke.

Heat stroke has symptoms, you don't just drop dead. There's usually increase in heart rate, flushed skin, difficulty breathing, etc.

Ordering another round while smoking probably is indicative of a heart attack!

Also, not drinking, not smoking and eating healthy 99.9% of the time, along with exercise is indicative of a heart attack.
