That's great if you like working for minimum wage and can speak Spanish.

Low paying jobs are better than no jobs, which is what many folks moving here are leaving behind.

It's pretty tough to pay for a place to live when your government's socialist programs, and unions run off good employers, and you don't have didly squat to pay for rent, groceries, etc.

FWIW, it's not all Mexicans doing construction work in this state. Lately, I've seen pleanty of white guys working construction. Perhaps coming down from the northern states that don't have any work. There goes that theory that Mexicans do work that Ameircans won't, i.e. construction.

The #1 reason why people move anywhere, be it immigration from one country to another or be it state to state, is for job opportunities. Florida has proven to be a job creation machine and this explains much of the rapid population growth. The warm sunny weather and great beaches are just icing on the cake.

Florida is awesome. Many of us have left, only to come back.

Did it 3 times.

It's like a bad itch

Thumbs up Why people relocate to Florida?

Many reasons, lets discuss a few and add others:

Job Market, Florida does provide one of the largest and most diversified job markets in the US. This is true for government jobs, aeronautical, government contractor, agricultural, construction, marine sales, tourism, security, consultants, home sales, golf industry, culinary diversity, insurance sales, and probably another 200 areas.

--Does accommodate all type of jobs qualifications, from the well educated to the high school graduate.

--As long as we have the tourism industry as a source of income, all of the above areas will continue to thrive

--Easy jobs for individuals on 2nd or 3er career; this might not help the salary concerns, but individuals (older than age 50) have a easier opportunity to get a job and work their way up

Note on immigration; construction jobs do employ white folks too. Please remember that many employers are allowed to bring legal workers from other countries to work under the Visa Work Program. This happen because we don’t have sufficient manpower to satisfy the market. This program is also use by many fast food companies to ensure sufficient manpower during summer and holidays.

Get away from the frigid winters

Famous beaches and lakes

Accessibility to all major amusements parks, state parks, and public parks

Cheaper utilities compare to the frigid north

Less congested towns; folks like to be close to a larger city, but not necessarily live on the Orlando, Miami, Tampa, etc..

Your turn to add more…

It's true, getting a job right now is easy. I like to base the health of the job market on whether fast food places are hiring. The more they are hiring, the better the job market (since better paying jobs are sucking people out of the McJobs). As of right now, EVERY single fast food place has a half-dozen help-wanted signs in their windows. Must be a worker shortage in Florida.
