Hi guys, I currently live in Winter Haven, Florida within Polk County. I'm accustomed to the Tampa/Orlando/Central Florida environment.

These are the cities in the panhandle where I've been offered a decent wage to work.

Jasper, Florida

Perry, Florida

Monticello, Florida

Bristol, Florida

Malone, Florida

Wewahitchka, Florida

I've researched them and they all have very small populations and seem to be quite rural. Not too different from Winter Haven.

Any ideas on where the best location would be?

I'm also of Arab heritage, and I've dealt with my fair share of racism in Polk County. Is the panhandle worse in this regard?

Thanks in advance guys.

I would choose Monticello far and away over the other options. It's a quaint, historic town with a more enlightened population than what you're going to find in the others which are pretty much rural and depressed. You could probably do a reverse commute from the Tallahassee area outward which would provide much more pleasurable living conditions, it's around 30 miles between the center of both cities. Tallahassee also has a visible Middle Eastern population due to the presence of Florida State University faculty/students.

I hate to burst your bubble but all the towns on your list (I can't in all seriousness call any of them cities) are a lot smaller than Winter Haven and way more isolated than Polk County on a bad day. If I had to recommend one, I would say Monticello only because of it's proximity to Tallahassee. As a matter of fact, you would be close enough to live in Tallahassee if you chose to.

I agree about Monticello, simply because you could live in east Tallahassee and have a somewhat easy commute to Monticello from there.
