hi we could use some help. My husband and I are planning on heading back home to Florida. He is originally from Florida. We are looking to find more information. I am an RN he is in radiology a CT tech. We have eight children two of which will be attending college the other six are 2 in elementary, 2 in the middle school and two in high school. What is our best option that have small town places with a decent house and a decent amount of land? The schools need to be at least rated 7 or above. we originally lived in Deltona and that is definitely not an option. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Given your desire for smaller towns with larger lots and good schools I would suggest St John's County on the SW side of Jacksonville. It has the best school district in the state and affordable low density housing options around the SR16 and SR210 corridors west of I-95, plus fairly easy access to Jacksonville where there is a fairly large selection of jobs in your fields.

How much land? My first thoughts would be Martin County. Palm City or Stuart. But land would be pricey.

That would leave you with Gulf Coast as the Atlantic side south of Orlando with quality schools is going to be quite expensive in terms of real estate costs. Check out the Lakewood Ranch area which is east of I-75 on the NE side of Sarasota and a fairly easy commute to either Sarasota or Bradenton. The schools are quite good as well and a beautiful area.

Sarasota county, specifically the North Port area. Average age is 38, good schools and reasonably priced homes.

The Lake Placid/Sebring FL area, (Highlands county) would be a great place to raise a family. There are already plenty of Middleton's here too!

These schools all are rated a "7"
Cracker Trail Elementary School
Sebring Middle School
Sun 'n Lake Elementary School

Many people come to our area for the small town feeling in Lake Placid. Sebring is larger with the bigger stores, mall, Cinemas, and tons of restaurants. 30 mins away you'll find Lake Placid which has the mom and pop type stores, a clown college, and beautifully landscaped town area.

If you are outdoors people both have tons of recreation available with state parks, over 100 freshwater fishing and skiing lakes, seasonal festivals.

I just did a search of my MLS and there are 8 properties AT LEAST 2 acres from $80k to $210k.
