Im 22 and I am currently going to community college. I am a white caucasion male. I went to Valencia College. I liked living in Orlando met lots of nice people some of whom are some of my best friends now. There was always alot to do. I dont think I want to move back to Orlando in August when the school year starts again. There was just to much crime and two many homeless people. I would like to stay in Florida. Here is what Im looking for.
-Nightlife or things for young people to do.
-I have a golden retriever dog so the area would have to be dog friendly.
-Im looking for an apartment in a nice area I could spend the max 1500 a month for either a 1 or 2 bed room apartment that is dog friendly.
-I dont want to live in a retierment comminity or w alot of families.
-It would be a plus to be an area such as a planned community or a beach town with resturants/bars near by.
-It could be close to a downtown area.
-Parks or alot of outdoor areas that are dog friendly would be a huge plus.
-I would also be interested in finding a job working in a retail setting selling clothing of somesort.
-It would have to be within 20 to 30 min to a commnity college or trade school. Im going to school for business.
Any thoughts on a city in Florida that meets some or all of these requirments.

It's a fine line finding a place that's not crime ridden and rife with homeless people and not full of families/retirees. You might check out Jupiter which I think offers a happy medium for you. The Abacoa area is thriving and full of restaurants/bars (a few college-age), plus the beach area is quite nice with some lively nightlife options there too. Check out the TGM apartment complexes. Both Floresta and Vintage accept dogs and are well within your price range. FAU-Jupiter and Palm Beach State college offer you the education options. Good luck!

Fort Walton Beach-Destin? Not too many old people, and a good number of singles as well as the families because of the Air Force bases in the area. Decent number of summer tourism jobs seem to come up. Easy free beach access at local parks and the usual kinds of restaurants and small downtowns nearby.

Downsides- summer traffic, winter is on the cool side. Kind of isolated from bigger cities- it's just shy of four hours to get to New Orleans and Atlanta, Tampa, and Orlando are six hour drives one way.

Clearwater would have been my second choice. It does have a substantial number of retirees and families, though you will find enough people your age to hang out with. There are a couple of sketchy areas there to avoid, but largely it's a nice place to live with one of the world's best beaches.

My thought, too.

Reason: Community colleges in the area as well as USF to transfer to. There are lots of people your age in the area, there is nightlife, there is a great theme park, water park, great beaches in the area, friendly people, museums, concerts, and won't be that far from your parents in Naples. It has a major airport so makes it easy to travel. Lots of opportunity to work while in college, too.

If Tampa were on the Atlantic, it would have been perfect for me when I moved down.

Sarasota would fill the bill. While there are retirees here, there are plenty of young people, too, and I would recommend the downtown area for that. There are several colleges, community colleges and trade schools here so that is covered. Very dog friendly town. Downtown is walkable and vibrant. We have some of the best beaches in Florida if not the country. Lots of bars/restaurants, etc. Retail business is BOOMING here with a brand new megamall just starting construction (among other things) Also, not too far from Naples (a couple hours maybe)

Definitely check it out!
