Naples takes a lot of crap for being "a place full of old people", but that's just not the truth anymore. We have people of all ages. I mean why would we have a municipal skate park, water park and a children's museum if we didn't have a large amount of families? Not to mention the countless public and private schools. Full of old people? A decade ago you would have been right. Not anymore. As for me, I moved to Naples because my family was here, but why do I stay?

- Amazing weather (year round)
- Beautiful beaches (year round)
- Just a beautiful extremely well kept area. (roads, buildings, parks)
- Proximity to Tampa and Miami for concerts, sports and other special events.
- Proximity to Key West. (I'm in KW at least 3-4 times a year)
- Awesome boating & fishing. (year round, are you seeing a trend here?)
- Quantity and quality of great unique dining. (hardly any chains or fast food)
- Quantity and quality of high end retail. (Everything from Target to Gucci)
- Proximity to three great airports means you can fly anywhere! (RSW, TPA, MIA)
Naples is a great town for the right person, but it just isn't anything like OC MD.

Based on my quick research of Ocean City, the Florida cities that it reminds me of are Clearwater Beach, Daytona Beach, Destin & Panama City Beach. So basically the most tourist-y cities in Florida.

That is pretty accurate. OC is a special place, I don't know how many other cities have a year round population of 10k and a summer population of over 300k on the weekends. lol

Daytona Beach actually isn't a good comparison because it's boardwalk is a joke. I've never been to Panama City Beach so I can't comment.

I don't think you're going to find anything like Ocean City in Florida. If I may, why are you wanting to leave Ocean City if it means so much to you? Just curious.

I love both Clearwater and Hollywood, but they are different animals.

I don't live there and it doesn't mean too much. It is special in a literal sense of the word.

Yeah, that is a little bit of a problem. The two places most similar in FL to OC aren't all that similar to each other. The OP would be wise to visit both.

Hollywood is my home town ... so I'll make a pitch for "The Diamond Of The Gold Coast."

Hollywood's close proximity to Fort Lauderdale, Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Miami, Miami Beach, Miami International Airport gives it an advantage of being a suburb near big cities. Tampa and St. Petersburg - while lovely! - are not big cities. So if cultural amenities such as museums, galleries, street festivals, foreign and indy film festivals, restaurant districts, night life, etc. etc. are high on your list ... I think Hollywood might be the better choice.

Unfortunately, Hollywood does have some sketchy neighborhoods. So does Fort Lauderdale.

It depends on how "urbane" and "walkable" you want your new town to be.

Hollywood sounds like good option as far as things going on.
