Yes, Delray is super cute. OP, please check out Delray. It's just north of Boca.

Every town in FL has a "downtown" and restaurants, etc. It's not backwoods, but I would certainly consider it rural. LP is a really lovely little Town, just an absolute hidden gem... it's just sort of in the middle of nowhere. Heck, I would even go so far as saying that Sebring could be considered rural. David, you really can't go wrong with LP unless you decide you want the ocean.

All good. We just have a somewhat different picture in our head when we hear "very rural"... Specifically "very". I picture a small backwoods town in Georgia with a general store and maybe a gas station. LP is substantially more than that, obviously. Brand new Publix, banks, large hardware store, airport, all sorts of restaurants, clothing stores, food delivery, etc.

But yes, it's definitely "middle of nowhere" in a sense, but not terribly far from anything either. Also well situated for day trips to the Keys, Bahamas, etc with a plane. I wouldn't be making a day trip from St Augustine to Key West, personally. Just too far. I used to have a plane, speaking from experience. How central the area is makes it a fantastic home base for general aviation. Go north, south, or east easily.
