Have some friends who live in Sun City Center and make it sound close to heaven itself. Can anyone give me their assessment based on personal knowledge? I have never lived in a retirement community.

Friends
My mom and dad moved to sun city 20 years ago. They made many many great friends and bonded with many people over the years... all good from their perspective. My dad is gone and my mom is partying all the time with the ladies that are still hanging in there. I am going to stay with her tomorrow for a week. Good luck. PS... it is a very good time for a buyer there right now... very good time.

I disagree that golf carts are the main mode of transportation - but it makes sense for folks to drive them for short trips around SSC - electricity instead of gasoline and easier to park, quieter. You do see a lot of carts. Ever been to Brandon during rush hour? Traffic is miserable, loud.

And yes, I've been stuck in Brandon during rush hour - no fun at all. I wasn't bashing the golf carters - I was more or less sending out a "look out" notice. Parking lots are full of them, and they fit nicely into blind spots on your vehicle.

Maybe I was wrong about the carts, too. Visited the SSC website the other day and it boasted about the carts and even showed pictures of intersections with several carts. I just want the OP to understand that SSC isn't your typical retirement home. Its a very well run community - of retired professionals - where the homes and area are immaculate, affordable, and the social scene for retirees is very active.
