My wife and I are planning on relocating to FL soon. We are thinking about moving to the North East coast (Palm Coast) or to the South West coast (Tampa, Fort Myers,etc...). I am between jobs right now since I lost my last job because of COVID. I can work from home in my field. We have enough savings to pay for 6 months if necessary. Are there places which allow people to rent without having a job first? I have been looking at apartments online, but they all are looking for at least a salary 3 times bigger than the renting price.

Will be tough, unless you find a private landlord willing to rent to you on a month to month basis.

I would think it difficult, since most all landlords are pretty gunshy from the moratorium for the last year.

Horrible idea. NEVER move without securing employment first! That savings will run out quicker than you think.

If your savings can only support you for six months, stay where you are until you have a job that you can WFH and then move.

PLEASE - do yourself a favor and secure a job first. Lots of openings right now, where you work will determine where you should live.

Good luck!

You need to show proof of income… 3x rent for any decent place. Terrible idea.

Really bad idea. They're painting a narrative that jobs are plentiful because "no one wants to work" after being on unemployment but the reality is the only truly available work is frontline retail/hospitality and most likely not full time or with benefits. Coupled with a big demand for rental housing where rents have gone up hundreds of dollars versus the typical 5% or less it's next to impossible in your situation. Not to mention Florida is the source of 25% of all new COVID cases in the US right now, it's getting worse and soon we'll no doubt have a crashed economy again because so many are unvaccinated. Stay where you are and find work, then ride out the pandemic until it's a better time as now or soon is clearly NOT it.

No offense, but I’m a private landlord and would not rent to someone with no income and just 6 months of savings.
