We own a concrete fortress of a home. I'm talking 4" thick solid concrete interior walls. Our home will be standing when Palm Coast blows away. However, our home was built in 1949 (when people actually CARED about their craft,) and ASI was the only company that would insure us.

merrittisl is on a distinguished road
It looks as if I'm going to switch to ASI, since First Floridian (Travelers) is not renewing my policy. I got a quote from my agent for ASI. Here's the latest (Jan 2008) that the A.M. Best site had to say about ASI and State Farm. Good news for ASI policy holders.

As of DECEMBER 21, 2007
A.M. Best Co. has upgraded the financial strength rating (FSR) to A- (Excellent) from B++ (Good) and assigned issuer credit ratings (ICR) of "a-" to American Strategic Insurance Group (ASI) (St. Petersburg, FL) and its members.

In 2005
A.M. Best Co. has downgraded the financial strength rating of State Farm Florida Insurance Co., to B+
