It's some where around $1/2 billion a year in taxes for Disney.....
...Disney negotiated this with Florida before they developed in the 60's, it was the main term that Disney required before they started

I'm sure the rest of the parks would have liked to have the same "favor"...they didn't

The Senate passed S. 4-C, which is the legislation that would dissolve the Reedy Creek Improvement District, otherwise known as the special tax and governing jurisdiction for the Walt Disney World Resort.

The Florida state House will likely take up the legislation on Thursday; the Florida House State Affairs Committee passed it favorably out of the committee on Tuesday.

DeSantis’s move to eliminate the special tax jurisdiction follows after the megacorporation has started moving thousands of its employees to the more “business friendly” state of Florida.

“Notwithstanding s. 189.072(2), any independent special district established…prior to…November 5, 1968… is dissolved effective June 1, 2023,” the legislation reads.

Disney Gets $580 Million in Tax Breaks in Florida Move

Walt Disney Co. announced plans last week to move approximately 2,000 jobs from California to Florida and will reap a nearly $580 million tax break in the process.

Disney, as first reported by the Los Angeles Times, applied for a tax credit in December 2019 to receive an estimated $578 million in credits from the state of Florida. The application was approved in March 2020.

The potential for decreased price to Disney admission will be offset by the additional $2000 per household in fees and taxes needed to cover the costs. Disney has been paying for all the road maintenance, sewers, utilities, other infrastructure, and fire/police service in the district. Disney paid 100% of it. Now, they'll pay 0% of it. And the homeowners will pick up the tab.

Thanks DeSantis!

So glad I don't live in the greater Orlando area.

"The Orlando Area?" Lake Buena Vista accounts for maybe 2% of "the Orlando Area." And that is the only area that Disney really controls.

I worked in utility engineering alongside FDOT for years -- NONE of the I4 Ultimate, nor the 429, nor the Wekiva Expressway projects, were funded by Disney. None. Zilch. Nada. What are you talking about??

Disney pays Florida $1/2 billion...
...Disney saves $1/2 billion in taxes

It's a wash for Disney....and $1/2 billion for the state of Florida...each year

No one is talking about i-4 or other various expressways, so idk what you're even talking about, but Orange and Osceola county will also become responsible for the 2 BILLION in bond debt which will impact their credit rating and their ability to secure more bonds for improvement projects. Estimated cost to each tax payer in Orange and Osceloa- $2000 to $2,500 per year. No one but desantis gets anything positive out of this.

The post I responded to said Disney paid “100% “of it.”
My response was directed at that claim. Disney paid “100%” of what exactly, that directly impacts most residents of Central Florida?

Hint: Nothing.
