10,000 a year on a 2,000 square foot home. Still trying to figure out how to fix the error the tax assessor made because they refuse to correct it. Remember in 2001 my property tax was 1200 a year. Save our homes really works doesnt it?

2200 sq.ft. home (living area)...about $5000 in property taxes - but if we sell, the new owners will have to pay about 3 times more.
We have no HOI, right now.

Great thread! I was actually thinking of starting one about this . . .
1 bdrm / 1 bath condo in FORT MYERS. Just paid a tax bill of over $1800.00 for my "air lot". Thank God that we all contribute to the HOI through our monthly association dues!

Inland SW Florida:
1200 sq foot home on 5 acres WITHOUT Homestead or Agriculture exeption was only $2200.
HOI $1560.
Not bad compared to others.

Where is this? In impoverished Hendry county I pay around 2,000.00 for a 5 acre EMPTY lot that I bought in 1993 for 10,000.00

tallrick,
I would not say Hendry County is impoverished at all. Hendry County is very beautiful and I've seen alot of mini-mansions. We bought just inside Glades County (corner of Lee and Charlotte) the beginning of last year. House was built in 1996. We have property in Lee County also..and we can't wait to get rid of that. Lee is a big scam like it always had been. We like it here better..better prices and prettier. And everyone is on no less than 5 acres. We have lots of privacy (except that most everybody out here owns their own planesand take off in them from their property). I know I don't want to pay higher taxes to live in an overcrowded congested nightmare paying even higher impact fees to build and maintain new schools for everyone else's kids. But that's just me and my opinion. We paid $600 for an empty lot..most of that was for the school taxes..and we don't even have kids.
