I'm thinking about relocating to the lakeland area. I have 2 bi-racial children and am wondering if this would be a decent place to move to. What area would you recommend and what schools? How is the job market down there. If lakeland would not work out what area would you suggest?

Why Lakeland?

I would suggest Jacksonville over Lakeland anyday because the economy is better up there. Lakeland is in major economic turmoil and it will remain so for a long time.

Lakeland is also very backwards and racist once you get away from the downtown and South Lakeland areas.

Please come here for a visit and see for yourself. The Chamber of Commerce must be doing an extremely good job but a trip through the city shows the poverty stricken reality of the area.

You can do better, trust me. Florida is a very large state and has much better areas. North Florida is where you should be researching imho. Tallahassee or Jax would be my choices. just my 2 cents

Best of Luck.

Do not consider Lakeland unless you are retired, you and your children will be bored to death.
